Walkerpack in support of SOS Kit Aid

Walkerpack have been supporting SOS Kit Aid for almost a decade and we were recently pleased to welcome a team of packers from the charity onto our Northampton, Brackmills site to prepare almost 40 boxes of kits that have been stored here.

SOS Kit aid was founded by Rugby Dad, John Broadfoot, to recycle sports kit so that young people in the UK and overseas were given a sporting chance. The idea had come to John during a trip to Romania where he witnessed the sight of an eight-year-old boy running with a ball in one hand whilst trying to hold his shorts up with the other.

With the support of World Rugby, kit has been donated by schools, clubs and kit manufacturers across the UK with an estimated value of £5 million. Over 200,000 youngsters in 27 developing countries across Eastern Europe, Africa, South America and the South Seas have benefited. By reusing the kits, the charity has also saved over 1000 tonnes of environmentally damaging CO2 emissions to date.

As keen Rugby enthusiasts and avid Northampton Saints Fans and sponsors, Walkerpack were keen to support the charity and get involved through offering storage for kit donations and work areas for packing shipments.

Midlands Regional Director for the charity, John Marshall was keen to thank all involved at Walkerpack and appreciates the support of companies like ours.

“Just a quick note to thank you and your staff for facilitating our kit pack yesterday. Having the packing area set up in readiness for us to work was a great help and enabled us to pack and clear all the stock you were holding for us in double quick time. We couldn't do this without the generous help and assistance of companies like yours, so a great team effort for Walkerpack and SOS Kit Aid.”
